Project A02 focuses on theoretical calculations of light nuclear systems based on effective field theories and symmetry principles. Using ab initio nuclear many-body methods, mainly the no-core shell model, we will provide a direct link from chiral effective field theory inputs to the observables studied in various experimental projects. We will improve two- and three-nucleon interactions for precision studies and provide predictions for nuclear observables with quantified uncertainties. This is complemented by constraints from symmetry principles and the direct solution of few-body continuum equations.
