This proposal belongs into the context of the SPP-1530 "Flowering time control: from natural variation to crop improvement". The goal is to extend the set of species within the project "Evolutionary transcriptomics of flower transition" (or short "Phylotranscrip-tomics") by rapeseed (Brassica napus L.). The interdisciplinary Phylotranscriptomics project takes an evolutionary transcriptomics approach on analysing the transition from the vegetative to the reproductive phase in flowering plants. The proposal is based on the recommendation of the review panel of the 2nd phase of SPP-1530. The Phylotranscriptomics project, which has started recently, is based on data from three other SPP projects. One of these projects, namely the one that should have provided the data for B. napus, was not selected for funding. However, the DFG suggested that the funding for generating the RNA-seq data from B. napus might be applied for in an extension proposal. We are happy to follow this recommendation. Analyses of the data generated in this proposal will take place within the already funded Phylotranscriptomics project, the RNA-seq data generated will be transferred accordingly.
