The main objective of the specialized information service "Montan (mining and metallurgy)" is the Montanportal with his special catalogue Montankatalog, which bundles thematically relevant literature of different types of media, in one single interface.Furthermore some new services for supporting the scientists will be established:- display of geographical information in the Montankatalog, based on a map- subject-specific news service. After subscription and selection of the interesting field the researchers will get relevant news of different scientific societies, authorities, companies etc.In this project the University Library Freiberg will offer “Digitalization on Demand” as additional service. At first the suggestions of the scientists will be checked (copyrights, other available digital editions etc.), after this scanned and published. The digital objects will be free available.Another task of the FID Montan is the acquisition of specialized literature focuses on supplementing the Library stock, and on continuing relevant serial publications highly sought-after in Germany and often available only in Freiberg. In addition, special literature and information needs of professional researchers will be considered. The acquisition of selected scientific journals (print or electronic) will complete the information resources of the FID Montan.In cooperation with the FID GEO the service “Elektronisches Publizieren” will be used to establish an open access repository for the FID Montan. The FID GEO maintains a publishing service for research data. The researchers of the FID Montan can use this service as well to publish their own open access research data. So the FID Montan supports the researchers also in this field of their scientific activities.The public relation focus on the advertising of FID Montan with his new features, contents and enhancements. The close cooperation between the FID Montan and the advisory board will be continued.
