The aim of the project is the development of a calculation method for the analysis of the motion behaviour of freely movable multi body systems under the consideration of inner and outer contacts. The multi body system is understood as a pile of filled parcels or load carriers which should be separated and transported by a conveying system. The simulation method should allow the prediction of the load acting on goods in its packaging or in its load carriers depending on the forces occurring during the transport process. To reach this aim, it is necessary to develop algorithms and implement them in a existing DEM software (LIGGGHTS). The developed method should be validated by experimental tests on a material handling test plant. With this research a contribution is made to predict the damaging of goods in their packaging during the transport in bulk mode. The increased understanding of the good damaging process would allow the optimisation of the conveying systems.
