Project Details
Molecular Assemblers: Light Driven Molecular Machines for Synthesis (A08*)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2015 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 13266514
In nature light energy is converted to chemical energy by photosynthesis driving ATP condensation. The energy stored in ATP powers a number of biochemical processes such as molecular machines which assemble reactants to products with high spatial precision. In project A8 we develop analogous, artificial, molecular assemblers, or in other words, we are aiming at light-driven molecular machines that are able to make other molecules.
