Project Details
Plasticity and dynamic interactions of chitin-induced receptor-mediated innate immunity (B08)
Subject Area
Biophysics
Term
from 2015 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 258780946
Plant pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), including the Arabidopsis chitin receptors CERK1 and LYK5, are the primary sensors of potentially infectious pathogens. PRRs induce the closure of stomata via activation of guard cell-expressed SLAC-type anion channels to elevate innate immune surveillance of leaf surfaces. Using super-resolution microscopy, FRET applications and split-luciferase assays in combination with electrophysiology, project B08 intends to quantify and to decipher the plasticity and protein-protein interaction dynamics of chitin receptor-mediated initiation of stomatal closure with high spatio/temporal resolution.
