Geometrical Structuring of Component Surfaces with Coated Micro End Mills (T01*)

The main subject of this transfer project is the first-time application of coated ultra-small micro end mills with ¿ < 100 µm for the microstructuring of surfaces. In cooperation with the industrial partners, new insights regarding coating technology of micro end mills will be achieved. The application of the coated micro end mills will be verified by the machining of brass printing plates for the production of banknotes. The use of coated micro end mills in these dimensions aims to increase wear resistance and to establish micro milling as a more flexible and cost-effective technology.
