Temporal metamaterials are made from materials that change their properties on time scales comparable to or even much shorter than the oscillation period of the light. We explore in this project the homogenization of the materials and emphasize a non-local description, a prime challenge for mathematics and physics. Retrieval procedures, numerical techniques to describe temporal metamaterials, and an exploration of observable effects are at the heart of our project. Our final goal is the homogenization of spatio-temporal metamaterials to combine our insights with those obtained from previous funding periods.
