Project Details
3D nanoscale imaging of individual spin labels
Subject Area
Analytical Chemistry
Term
from 2015 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 276780336
In this project we plan to carry out 3D precision localization of individual electron spin labels. To this end we will combine 3D single spin scanning magnetometry with electron-electron double resonance (DEER). We plan to carry out DEER between NV and single spin labels. We will combine decoupling with DEER to enhance the distance range of the method. Further on we will combine DEER with nuclear memory to improve DEER resolution. We will apply the method to precision imaging of single spin labels, e.g. Gd spins. We plan to explore resolution by image test samples with multiple spins synthesized by members of the SPP. While most experiment will be carried out at low temperature we plan to carry out 3D localization of electron spins under ambient conditions.
