Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse
The WET trial proved through its excellent recruitment rate, high completeness of data and short-term results to be a well-designed and carried out trial. The loss of CE mark was unforeseeable and the efforts made to continue with the trial despite this setback were considerable. Despite the lack of power caused by the early trial stop, our data strongly suggest that IB and DJBL lead to comparable weight loss while implanted, which is superior to a sham procedure. However, these procedures fail to achieve effective weight loss 12 months after explantation. These results need to be interpreted with caution due to the trial’s early termination.
