In the first funding period we successfully developed the envisioned EPR method OTRACE-EDMR for a selective probing of photo-generated and extracted charge carriers in opto-electronic and photovoltaic devices by means of pulsed, field-induced extraction under EPR conditions. Our method determines quantitativelythe impact of spin-dependent recombination on state-of-the-art thin-film organic solar cells. In the second funding period we will apply this method to relevant material systems and devices, such as polymer-fullerene bulk-heterojunctions, organo-metallic halide perovskites, as well as carbon nanotube based photovoltaic devices.
