Subject Area
Modern and Contemporary History
Term
from 2015 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 252080619
This project compares the framing of political decision-making in Argentina and Mexico around the middle of the 19th century when the political order of both countries began to stabilise. A comparison is able to illustrate the path dependency of developments in the nation-state. The focus will be on state actors (militias, the army) and the attempts to incorporate them into the political process. The project will study the discourse about these actors as well as their participation in conflictual processes of decision making between the provinces and the nation-state.
