The project combines biographical research into Otto Kirchheimer's political and academic work with practical editorial work. The project commences with the compilation of a complete bibliography of all of Kirchheimer's publications. In the next phase, the project turns to archival research in a number of institutions in Germany and the US in order to find and collect unpublished manuscripts by Kirchheimer. This edition will make Kirchheimer's writings available for the first time in one single collection that is editorially consistent and contains detailed information about the texts and their contexts. The publication will be available in print as well as in electronic formats. The colledted works will span 2,100 to 2,300 pages and will be divided into five separate volumes: The Politics and Constitution of the Weimar Republik; Writings on Criminal Justice and German National Socialism; Political Analyses for the OSS and the Department of State; Political Justice; Political Systems in Europe after World War II.
