Subject Area
Medicine
Term
from 2002 to 2011
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273475
Large epidemiological studies which have been set up or are newly established and which are carried out with different topics and designs in different populations will be used as common platforms for graduation projects of several research teams in interdisciplinary cooperation.
This training program focuses on research and will give the participants the opportunity to pass through and learn all steps of different study types in the field of descriptive and analytical epidemiology in a research-oriented study program including study implementation, field study, various laboratory techniques, statistical-epidemiological evaluation, scientific summary and publication of the results.
With this research training group a structured training program has been developed, which covers all fundamental aspects of epidemiology in lectures and seminars, by teaching by topics and in Summer Schools. The goal is to achieve the integration of the entire repertoire of methods and fields of application in both the epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases which are traditionally found in different schools and teams.
This training and research program thus especially takes into account the ever increasing knowledge of the numerous interactions between the two areas.
