Project Details
GRK 722: Information Techniques on Precision Plant Protection in Agriculture and Horticulture
Subject Area
Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine
Term
from 2001 to 2010
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273331
The objective is a precise control over weeds, pests, and plant diseases. In this way, the use of chemical pesticides on agricultural and horticultural fields may be reduced. The research focuses on:
-- the development and the use of optical sensors, radar sensors and digital cameras for close and long distance screening in order to register the appearance and dissemination of weeds, pests and diseases quickly and extensively with computer based diagnostic methods,
-- the use of geo-informatics systems and expert systems for a specific planning, analysis and documentation of measures of plant protection,
-- the proper application of those measures with sensor controlled plant protection machines/devices,
-- the evaluation of the economic benefits and of the environmental effects on the ecological balance and the quality of the produced food.
