The interdisciplinary research activities of the research training group covers the development of methods for processing, administration, presentation and transfer of multimedia data. In the range of the multi media research activities the following fields of topics are considered: Usability in the area of multimedia application, user- and inter-application interfaces in Java, data banks for multimedia application,3-d objects in MPEG-4, visualization and presentation of structuredinformation, client-server architectures for mobile multimediaapplication, data transfer with digital communication channels, datareduction for multimedia applications and data security in new media.Research activities in the field of the social implications of tthe multimedia technology will be an essential part in the topics of thenext period. Especially the "legal matters of the internet" as well as the investigation of the psychological consequences of virtualteamwork will belong to this extended thematic area.
