In the present proposal we present a programm that aims to use electron-rich Fe-complexes for the activation of diazocompounds in X-H-insertion reactions. Based on preliminary studies, in which we were able to show that Bu4N[Fe(CO)3(NO)] as a catalyst activates ethyldiazoacetate (EDA) as a carbenoid for the insertion into N-H and S-H-bonds, the scope and limitations of these reactions shall be systematically explored . Subsequently, the corresponding insertion into the less reactive C-H-bond are targeted. Apart from the activaiton of sigma-bonds the insertion into pi-bonds (alkenes, carbonyl groups, imines, etc.) will also be investigated.
