Project Details
Downstream signalling of hippocampal ensembles in the entorhinal cortex (A01)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
from 2015 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 243553651
Cognitive or behavioral activity goes along with the activation of multiple local networks. We hypothesize that the corresponding ensembles form different representations, in line with the distributed information processing observed at the systems level. We will study progagating network activity in the hippocampus and the medial entorhinal cortex, a prominent model system for spatial memory formation. Using different biophysical, molecular and morphological methods we will identify the differences and commonalities of distinct ensembles in these areas.
