Subject Area Orthopaedics, Traumatology, Reconstructive Surgery
Term from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 249509554

We intend to structure the activities in the TP Z towards: (a) coordinating the animal models used in the Research Unit to enable better comparability; (b) raising public awareness of musculoskeletal regeneration with respect to aging, immunological fitness and mechanical adaptability; (c) structuring of education by using the infrastructure of the Berlin-Brandenburg School for Regenerative Therapies specifically for clinical scientists (GEROK), and (d) continuation of the international scientific networking activities that have been developed among the participants of the proposed Research Unit during their previous work in order to emphasize the importance of investigating the influence of aging on regeneration. To validate findings from mouse models in human patients, access to qualified human hematomas is essential. Thus a special feature will be the access to harvested human hematoma from fracture patients within specified age groups. The harvesting will be coordinated with the help of the BCRT core unit ¿cell harvest¿. All hematomas will be prepared for analysis, stored and made available for the different groups to provide them with human sample data that serve as correlate to findings in hematoma and tissue of the mouse models within the Research Unit.
