Holistic investigation of chemical multiphase reactions in exhaust after treatment systems (C04)

Subject Area Technical Thermodynamics
Term since 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 237267381

In this subproject, the multiphase, chemical reactions of the urea-water spray are investigated in the context of the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides. The investigations will be extended with regard to emission control of future hydrogen engines. The chemical and physical interactions of the reducing agent hydrogen with the reactive multiphase system will be investigated, especially with respect to the conversion of isocyanic acid as well as the formation of solid deposits. Furthermore, the geometric complexity of the system will be increased by introducing mixer structures between the dosing point and the catalyst.
