The aim of this subproject is the transient multidimensional simulation and analysis of the near-wall pro-cesses and in particular the flame-wall interaction, with emphasis on internal engine conditions. By merging experimental and numerical results, an understanding of how in-cylinder flows with temperature and mixture inhomogeneities affecting boundary layer structure, flame-wall interaction and near-wall pollutant formation will be established. For this purpose, reduced reaction models and zonal models are used to describe the boundary layer flow.
