Parallel and Many-Core Supercomputing Infrastructure (Z02)
Subject Area
Physics
Term
from 2015 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 138713538
The dedicated parallel supercomputer MILKY WAY, consisting of a workstation cluster accelerated by many-core graphical processing units (GPU) as well as multi-core CPUs provides powerful and easily accessible computing capability to all SFB research projects. It has been very suc-cessfully hosted for the SFB by the Jülich Supercomputing Center (JSC). We therefore seek to continue this collaboration in the next funding period. A mid-term upgrade of the MILKY WAY sys-tem is envisaged. A specialized computing laboratory at ARI should be initiated, to test and ex-plore the technical possibilities for that.
