Project Details
Multiscale thermomechanical Simulation of solid-liquid interactions during solidification (B07)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
since 2014
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236616214
In the third phase, the influence of the morphology of the solid/liquid state on the precision will be investigated using the multi-scale approach. Target is to be shown how an adapted temperature profile along the process can increase the precision. In particular, it will be calculated: i) for gravity die casting with Al alloys, the viscoplastic material behavior in the solid/liquid state as a function of solidification morphology, ii) for casting and welding, the relationship between morphology and hot cracking tendency of these alloys, and iii) for semi-crystalline polypropylene, the mechanical properties as a function of the crystallized fraction and morphology of the lamellae.
