Project Details
Algorithms for the design of the tempering system in injection molds on the basis of a local cooling (B01)
Subject Area
Plastics Engineering

In subproject B01, the mechanical material behaviour is modelled in addition to the thermal behaviour in order to be able to take into account the internal stresses arising in the cooling process of the plastic melt in the optimization. With this basis, more complex materials such as fibre-reinforced plastics and hindered shrinkage can be modelled, whose influence on moulding distortion is less dependent on temperature distribution and cooling rate. In addition, the approximation of the tempering channel layout is extended to drilled channels and further modification options for setting the optimum heat balance are investigated and added to the design methodology.
