Final Report Abstract
This study demonstrated the feasibility of MSOT to monitor the treatment effects of the emerging ablation techniques like photodynamic therapy by resolving the reduction of oxygen saturation in time and space. It also revealed another unknown potential of optoacoustics, namely its use in a theranostic approach in which a nano-second pulsed laser induces not only the diagnostic images but also serves as the inductor for activating the photosensitizer at the same time.
