Project Details
Genetically encoded probes for the real-time observation of intracellular hydropersulfide generation
Applicant
Professor Dr. Tobias Dick
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
from 2014 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 251903044
In the first funding period of the priority program we developed highly sensitive genetically encoded hydroperoxide probes (Nat Chem Biol 2016, 12:437). In the second funding period, we aim to develop the first genetically encoded probes for hydropersulfides. These will be based on proteins naturally involved in the generation and transfer of hydropersulfide groups. These tools are expected to enable new insights into the physiological functions of hydrogen sulfide, hydropersulfides and protein persulfidation (a thiol switch modification) in signal transduction and cytoprotection.
