The objective of project B5 is a large eddy simulation of flash evaporation of a jet of liquid oxygen. The local bubble and droplet characteristica will be characterized by an interface density function and a liquid volume fraction. The source terms for the interface density and the evaporation rate can be derived from direct numerical simulations of the second funding period. Subgrid scale effects due to turbulence will be modelled using the method of stochastic fields. The LES results can then be validated by comparison with the experiments of partner project B4.
