The aim of the proposed work is to analyze the prognostic value of T1- and T2-mapping in comparison to standard MRI to predict progressive left ventricular remodeling. Standard MRI includes T2w-, late gadolinium enhancement (LGE)- and Cine-MRI. The study focus on patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). These patients will be studied prospectively and serially using T1- and T2-mapping. In patients with STEMI T1- and T2-mapping will be used to study the impact of the infarct and the peri-infarct zone for the development of left ventricular remodeling. A special focus will be the time course of the pre-contrast T1- and T2-times in different myocardial areas to understand the impact of edema in the development in global remodeling. Normal data will be established by studying age and sex-matched healthy volunteers to develop cutoff values for T1- and T2-times.
