Empirical educational research has experienced a massive upturn in interest in recent years. Hereby, consensus prevails that an exact understanding of learning processes and its beneficial conditions requires considering the subject-domain. In mathematics and the natural sciences, first examples for successful research projects and publications in the field of teaching- learning research are already evident. On the other hand, however, in humanities, social sciences and philology, there are few recent empirical publications and research projects which have expanded our knowledge and subject-specific learning. The workshop for early career investigators will specifically promote up-and-coming scientific talent in the field of subject-related empirical teaching-learning research. There, early career investigators will receive support in developing their own empirical research projects for their initial DFG application. At first, they can present their research projects to experts and will receive purposeful feedback. Completed project applications will then be presented to a panel of experts in the context of a DFG organized selection colloquium. Successful applicants then have the possibility of participating at the IPN Winter Graduate School.
