As part of the South Pole Telescope (SPT) Collaboration, our international team has been recently awarded five nights on the Clay-Magellan telescope at Las Campanas Observatory, Chile, to measure weak-lensing masses for ~50 SPT selected clusters at 0.4 < z < 0.6. In this proposal, we request travel funds (4000 Euro) for Dr. Applegate to lead these observations. Dr. Applegate is the Science Coordinator for these observations and is the expert in lensing-quality data processing on the observing team. Due to the compressed time between award notification and the start of observations, we only request travel funds in this proposal to ensure timely processing.
