Solvothermal reactor with in-situ characterization tools

Fachliche Zuordnung Verfahrenstechnik, Technische Chemie

Hydro- or solvothermal conditions imply the use of closed reaction vessels, normally stain less steel autoclaves which allow heating up aqueous or organic solvents, respectively, over a wide range of temperatures. Under these conditions, a large variety of functional particle systems can be synthesized. The objective of the present proposal is to combine hydro- and solvothermal synthesis with several simultaneous in-situ measurement techniques (RAMAN, FTIR/ATR, UV-Vis, DLS, turbidity, pH and conductivity) for monitoring particle formation with simultaneous characterization of the fluid phase. The objective is to obtain mechanistic insight into the formation mechanism of a variety of nanoparticle systems including oxides, kesterites, sulfides and zeolithes. Furthermore, the proposed equipment will be used in a continuous mode in order to study continuous production of particles and to provide material quantities in the range of kg/day for cooperating partners.
