Project Details
Analysis of materials modifications by high resolution microstructural characterisation ((3) C02)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 223500200
The aim of the present sub-project is to provide the basis for establishing Process Signatures by elucidating the mechanisms on the microstructural scale through applying correlative electron microscopy techniques. The material modifications will be analyzed by combining a range of analytical and high resolution methods in Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy. In addition, for in situ-experiments, a test bench was developed for the large chamber SEM installed at the GFE. In the setup, processes like scratching and turning can be imaged in situ and it is also possible to apply a laser stimulus for materials modifications.
