Project Details
Rational targeting of intracellular protein transport signals by supramolecular ligands (B05)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 229838028
In the preceding funding period, we developed supramolecular binders to the nuclear export signal (NES) of Survivin to interfere with its dual (patho)biological activity. Now, we intend to further increase the specificity and activity of this supramolecular ligands by multivalency and coupling to multifunctional nanocarriers. Moreover, we will expand our concept by supramolecular targeting of the nuclear import signal (NLS) of the protease Taspase1. Collectively, we aim to demonstrate that selective protein transport regulation can indeed be achieved by supramolecular targeting of signals rather than receptors.
