Project Details
Ultra-small nanoparticles for protein-specific targeting (A05)
Subject Area
Biological and Biomimetic Chemistry
Term
from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 229838028
The project is focussed on the synthesis and surface functionalization of ultrasmall gold nanoparticles with a diameter of 1-2 nm. These will be covalently functionalized by orthogonal chemical coupling (click reactions, peptide binding via cysteine) with synthetic receptor molecules and protein-specific peptides. These decorated nanoparticles will be applied for protein-specific targeting, exploiting also multi- and heteroavidity. The principal goal is the establishment of a rational synthetic chemistry on the surface of ultrasmall nanoparticles, leading to the preparation of protein-specific nanoparticles with a defined ligand composition on their surface.
