To train highly skilled and internationally competitive immunologists and to foster interactions among students and PIs within and between the participating locations, an integrated doctoral training program (IRTG) within the TRR130 was established. The IRTG-TRR130 is based on four pillars: research, education, mentoring, and career development. This structured doctoral program was essential to recruit the best students, to foster interactions between the different locations, and, most importantly, helped us to reach the research goals. This very active IRTG will continue with similar structures in the next funding period. We successfully established an integrated doctoral training program (IRTG) within the TRR130 to train highly skilled and internationally competitive immunologists and to foster interactions among students and PIs within and between the participating locations. The IRTG-TRR130 is based on four pillars: research, education, mentoring and career development. This structured doctoral program is essential to recruit the best students, foster interactions between the different locations, and, most importantly, reach the research goals. Therefore, we will continue the IRTG in the next funding period using the successfully established structures.
