Project Details
Regulation of B cell differentiation by vitamin A and D (19+)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
from 2013 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 215346292
Vitamin A and vitamin D both regulate B cell function and are linked on a molecular level as their receptors dimerize. Project 19 could show that both vitamin A and D synergistically block IgE production. Furthermore, vitamin A could induce a class switch to IgA. The mechanisms for these pathways will be further analysed in human B cells and mouse models. These studies may provide a molecular basis for the development of novel anti-allergic treatment protocols.
