Time-Resolved Two-Photon Photoemission Studies of Interface Electron and Exciton Dynamics (B06)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term since 2013
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 223848855

Time-resolved two-photon photoemission (2PPE) is employed to investigate the dynamics of electronic excitations at abrupt, van der Waals coupled interfaces such as organic/metal interfaces, organic donor/acceptor interfaces and interfaces of two-dimensional semiconductors. Electron transfer processes at these interfaces are monitored by directly mapping the temporal evolution of electron populations in momentum space. One target of our studies is interface electronic states, their energy position, their wavefunction overlap with both solids, and their role in the charge transfer. The other target is the spectroscopy of charge-transfer excitons and the dynamics of their formation and decay.
