Project Details
Spectral modeling of thermal radiation in oxy-fuel pulverized coal flames (C03)
Subject Area
Technical Thermodynamics
Term
from 2013 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 215035359
Based on the findings in the first period, the impact of the gas and particle radiation on the overall heat transfer in coal-fired oxy-fuel boilers under atmospheric and elevated pressures will be investigated and an accurate as well as efficient model will be developed. Furthermore, different effects of various parameters on the turbulence-radiation-interaction will be evaluated and appropriated models derived. Herein, numerical aspects e.g. spatial, angular and spectral discretization as well as physical issues with regard to the spatial and temporal averaging of the thermo-kinetic state will be considered. Finally, spatial differencing schemes are further developed with respect to accuracy and computational efficiency.
