Complex processes in application areas such as manufacturing, automotive or logistics are heavily based on embedded systems. Current approaches, however, are usually domain-specific and are closed environments. For enabling system-spanning added-value services by third parties, more open approaches with secure and reliable communication interfaces are required. Moreover, the mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets have to be integrated seamlessly into associated control and data flows. This project aims at the development of service-oriented platform concepts for flexible and cost-efficient, system-spanning third-party applications in the area of the internet of services using mobile components. A service-based platform shall enable reliable, secure and adaptive data and control flow between different systems. In particular, the specification, negotiation, monitoring, and adaptation of multi-layer service level agreements shall be supported explicitly. Mobile devices shall act as integrated active components for user interaction, decision making and data acquisition. The evaluation of the overall approach will be based on a use case from the automotive area, with a secondary use case from the logistics field.
