Novel G-protein-coupled receptors for fatty acids and other lipids (A04)

The project deals with the receptors FFA1-4, which are activated by short- and long-chain fatty acids as well as with the systematic search for new lipid receptors and the analysis of their function. Various lipid libraries and state-of-the-art screening procedures will be used to identify novel lipid receptor pairs. The functional relevance of particular lipid receptors will primarily be studied in genetic mouse models and, if possible, in the human system. The goal is to develop novel concepts for the prevention and therapy of cardiovascular, metabolic and neoplastic diseases.
