Project Details
Influence of hypoxia-activated transcription factors on bacterial infections (A19+)
Subject Area
Parasitology and Biology of Tropical Infectious Disease Pathogens
Term
from 2013 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 61867463
It is assumed that similar redox mechanisms are underlying cancer and infectious diseases and that these are interfering mutually. The imprint of HIF-1-regulated host responses will be analyzed using murine S. aureus-induced kindey abscesses and murine fibrosarcoma (with project A08) and underlying mechanism will be characterized in vitro und in vivo in detail. Finally, the influence of bacterial infections (with the proangiogenic and antiapoptotic bacterium B. henselae) on cancer growth will be analyzed by using the chorioallantoic-membrane cancer model (with project A21).
