We focus on energetic modeling and on the derivation of effective macroscopic models from microscopic or mesoscopic assumptions, with interest in the development of mathematical tools, in their application to problems in mechanics, and in the study of specific materials. Mathematically, the main tools are Gamma convergence, rigidity estimates for gradient fields and the theory of functions of bounded deformation.
