Project Details
Experimental investigations for lifetime prediction (D09)
Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term
from 2013 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26293245
To improve the understanding of the nozzle lifetime TP D9 will exploit the test stands developed in the 2nd FP for reliable experiments with innovative measuring comprising the hot gas flow, defining the heat flux to the structural surface, the nozzle structure, interacting with hot gas and coolant flow, and the flow inside the cooling ducts, convecting the heat from the metallic walls. A focus of work is now a doubling of the com-bustion pressure, to reach significantly higher heat fluxes. The influence of the surface roughness on heat transfer (hot gas and cooling duct side) will be analyzed. Finally, the application of thermal barrier coatings will show the improvement regarding damage protection.
