B2 investigates the coordination and execution of MAKI communication systems. In Phase II, placement and planning mechanisms as well as SDN-compatible virtualized end-to-end runtime support (VirtualStack) were developed. In Phase III, multiple variants (and hence, mechanism transitions) are to be supported for applications, in particular by means of devel-oper support, semi-automatic determination of quality measures, and suitable optimization methods. New concepts for mi-croservice based underlying execution environments shall greatly improve the integration of edge computing. Through in-terwoven transitions in applications, communication system (as VirtualStack) and execution environment, crucial require-ments shall be much better supported and transitions shall be automatically constructed.
