Project Details
Migration: Migration of Mechanisms and Malleable Transitions (A03)
Subject Area
Security and Dependability, Operating-, Communication- and Distributed Systems
Term
since 2013
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 210487104
The goal of subproject A3 is to enable non-transition enabled systems to perform cooperative transitions through mecha-nism migration and malleable transitions. Mechanism migration allows the use of transitions (a) on devices under external control as well as in proprietary applications or device components (e.g., by using a proxy) and (b) on devices under our own control on which closed applications or firmware components are used (e.g., by modification). By means of malleable tran-sitions, existing transitions are rendered usable under different environmental conditions, such as a reduced choice of mech-anisms or a limited basis for decision-making (e.g., missing information from a non-transition enabled communication sys-tem) while maintaining the transition logic.
