Using the example of the contemporary 2012-movement, the project examines the question, whether apocalyptic movements also in present time are able, beyond the interest of a broad public in esoteric or para-scientific questions, to lead to adjustments in and structural modifications of the knowledge system, i. e. the acceptance of cultures of knowledge as reliable parts of established research.
