Investigation of turbulent boundary layers with pressure gradient at high Reynolds numbers with high resolution multi camera techniques
Final Report Abstract
The second funding period of the DFG project enabled a further development of the advanced Lagrangian Particle Tracking techniques STB and MP-STB and allowed a very successful application of STB and FlowFit for the investigation of large-scale flow structures in APG-TBL flows at high Reynolds numbers. An unprecedented wealth of data comprising time-resolved 3D Lagrangian and Eulerian velocity, acceleration and pressure information in a huge measurement volume down to flow separation was acquired and analyzed. Within the project, all work packages were successfully completed. The analysis of the data has led to a much better understanding of the turbulent superstructures under the action of pressure gradients. But also the interaction of the structures with separated flow regions has greatly enhanced the understanding of the spatial and temporal dynamics of the separation line.
