The project studies knowledge transfers in the early modern Greek-speaking world. Having examined the forms of self-assertion and self-understanding used by Greek courtly and clerical elites around 1700, the project now focuses on epistemic micro-constellations in the middle decades of the eighteenth century (1730–1769) in order to trace the various modes of knowledge movement in both courtly and clerical institutional contexts and to relate them to long-term developments in the Greek, Ottoman and south-eastern European history of knowledge.
