Project Details
Surface contact and adhesion induced responses in yeast (E03 (C03))
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
from 2012 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192445154
In this project, we aim at understanding how in yeast adhesion to solid surfaces triggers the formation of biofilms. For this purpose, we will test the hypothesis that cell-surface adhesion triggers cell wall stress and responses that are mediated by cell wall-associated sensor proteins. Specifically, we will investigate the structural and functional diversity of (i) Flo11-type adhesins from different yeasts and of (ii) different Wsc-type mechanosensors of budding yeast with respect to contact sensing and cellular self-nonself discrimination by using complementary in vivo and in vitro experimental approaches.
