Recovery from failure: Analysis of transmural mechano-electrical dysfunction (C03)

In C03, we will study the recovery from heart failure in a porcine large animal model by applying the previously developed imaging technology. We will further expand our imaging modalities with opto-acoustic techniques for the advanced characterization of cardiac structure and function on tissue and organ level. Using the large animal model together with comprehensive, multi-model imaging technologies and machine learning, we aim to develop tools to predict the progression to and the recovery from pressure overload-induced heart failure. This will be done in close collaboration with the corresponding clinical project D01.
